OUR STORY
our HISTORY
The United Kingdom & Ireland Malaysian Law Students’ Union or Kesatuan Penuntut Undang-Undang Malaysia di UK dan Eire (KPUM) has acted as an umbrella body for all Malaysian students studying law in the UK for over 20 years. Established officially in 1979, we strive to promote the interests of our members, which come from over 30 institutions in the UK, including universities and bar schools.
KPUM serves as a platform for students to meet with potential employers and future colleagues through events such as our annual Law Careers Convention, Mooting Competition, and the Legal Academy initiative. We aim to provide students with information about prospective employers and law firms as well as stimulate intellectual curiosity and knowledge about Malaysia’s legal scene.
The Union is recognised by the Malaysian Bar council which has always shown tremendous interest and support in our activities and more importantly, our members. We are also proud to have had HRH the late Sultan Azlan Shah, the Sultan of Perak who was also previously Lord President of the Malaysian Federal Court, as our Royal Patron for the past 17 years.
